When you have chronic knee, ankle, hip, or shoulder pain, standard over-the-counter treatments may only provide little relief, and you may need to seek proper medical intervention to effectively treat it.

Fortunately, at the orthopedic clinic of Dr. William Hefley, Jr., M.D., we offer a variety of treatment options to address your condition.

However, with the unabating COVID-19 surges across the United States, you may be leery about going to an orthopedic clinic. You’ll be glad to know that Dr. Hefley and our team take every step necessary to keep you safe during your visit.

Before Your Visit

When you call us to schedule your appointment, we will assess your risks and possible recent exposures to COVID-19.

When you request an appointment online, our staff may contact you to ask you some questions about your exposure and symptoms before approving your request. We will provide you with instructions on how to go about your appointment, such as when to arrive, what to do when you get here, and what you’re supposed to bring.

At Our Orthopedic Clinic

At the orthopedic clinic of Dr. William Hefley, Jr., M.D., we are taking the following precautions to ensure your safety, strictly abiding by the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

  • Ask you to wait in your car until it is your turn to see Dr. Hefley to avoid having you spending excess time in our waiting area
  • Ensure our supplies of masks, gowns, gloves, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) are sufficient to keep our staff — and you — safe
  • Limit the number of patients that we see in our clinic at a time to ensure social distancing
  • Require all of our patients—adults and children alike—to wear facemasks at all times inside our premises (Note: We can’t attend to you if you are not wearing a mask.)
  • Restrict the number of staff who interact with you during your appointment
  • Screen our staff and patients for any COVID-19 exposure and symptoms
  • Use hospital-grade disinfectants and observe stringent sanitizing procedures in between appointments

Arkansas Department of Health Recommendations

To protect yourself and other people, we highly encourage you to follow the recommendations from the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH):

  • Always wear a facemask when you go to public places.
  • As often as necessary, observe proper handwashing hygiene: wash with disinfectant soap for at least 20 seconds. If water is not available, use hand sanitizers instead.
  • Get the COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to you.
  • If you think you have recently been exposed to COVID-19 or have developed symptoms of it (cough, fever, and/or shortness of breath), get tested immediately. Testing is available in many locations, including Arkansas Department of Health local units.
  • Practice physical distancing; stay at least six feet from the next person.
